Correction of the notification dated December 07, 2009 (published on
December 10, 2009):

The proportion of voting rights via shares of BR Jersey International
Holdings L.P., St. Helier, Jersey, in Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany,
exceeded the threshold of 3% of the voting rights on December 01, 2009 and
at that time amounted to 3.02% (1,950,872 voting rights). These voting
rights were attributed to BR Jersey International Holdings L.P. pursuant to
§ 22 para 1 sentence 1 no. 6 WpHG in conjunction with § 22 para 1 sentence
2 WpHG.


Correction of the notification dated February 05, 2010 (published on
February 08, 2010):

The proportion of voting rights via shares of BR Jersey International
Holdings L.P., St. Helier, Jersey, UK, in Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany,
has fallen below the threshold of 3% of the voting rights on February 01,
2010 and at that time amounted to 2.44% (1,578,223 voting rights). These
voting rights were attributed to BR Jersey International Holdings L.P.
pursuant to § 22 para 1 sentence 1 no. 6 WpHG in conjunction with § 22 para
1 sentence 2 WpHG.

Please note: The correct name of the company is BR Jersey International
Holdings L.P.
