Grammer sets new standards for truck seats

Numerous new products to be unveiled at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2012 demonstrate the innovative drive of the company

Future developments focus on lightweight construction and electronics

Amberg, September 20, 2012 - Grammer AG has numerous innovations in store for the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover, including the MSG 115 seat generation, new seats by Grammer's US joint venture GRA-MAG, two light-weight passenger seat prototypes and electronic multi-function armrests for truck seats. The new products represent an important milestone for the Grammer growth strategy in the commercial vehicles market. They considerably strengthen the company's international competitiveness and demonstrate that the name Grammer is synonymous with innovation. The new MSG 115 suspension seat, for instance, introduces a completely new generation of seats that set new standards when it comes to design, ergonomics and functionality. In addition to a long list of advantages for users of the seat, this new generation opens up a world of individual design possibilities for OEM customers. The MSG 115 seating system can be adapted to accommodate almost any customer design needs - and is available with a range of features from static seats to fully loaded luxury seats.

GRA-MAG Truck Interior Systems LLC, a joint venture between GRAMMER AG and Magna Seating, presents the new GT700 series of seats for Kenworth T700 and Peterbilt 587 trucks. The market launch of the new seats is set for the fourth quarter of 2012.

The two lightweight prototypes being unveiled by Grammer in Hannover include one lightweight seat constructed of high-tensile steel and one lightweight composite seat made of fiber-reinforced plastic. These truck passenger seats are 40% lighter than conventional static seats - improving fuel economy in over-the-road transport and making a contribution to climate protection and sustainability.

The Group's subsidiary, Grammer EiA Electronics N.V., now offers an all new type of component that enables owners of Grammer seats with standard armrests to modernize by adding multifunction armrests. Drivers can use these armrests to control vehicle functions as well as aftermarket accessories. As a platform independent, standardized interface between truck and driver, this Grammer innovation opens up a range of new possibilities for vehicle manufacturers and makers of aftermarket products.
