BKN International AG: Major new deals on numerous properties
BKN International A.G., the Frankfurt and London listed global animation
company engaged in the distribution and marketing of animated children's
television programmes and related consumer products, today reports that it
has signed a number of major agreements in key strategic areas around the
world. This follows the Company's stated goal to expand its business
operations in Asia, maximise its Legend of the Dragon property and seek
pre-
sales on its newest property entitled 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves: The
Lost Scimitar of Arabia'.
- The Company has formed its Singapore based subsidiary entitled BKN
New
Media Pte. Ltd ("BKN New Media") headed by Ben Heng as Managing
Director.
Various proposals for expansion into Mainland China are under evaluation
with
the goal to implement by year-end.
- BKN New Media has signed a EUR1.3 million representation agreement
with
Agogo Corporation in Hong Kong ("Agogo"), a leading producer and
distributor
of animation in Asia, to represent their catalogue in Asia consisting of
more
than 600 titles currently plus several new series annually for the next 5
years. The term of the overall contract is 10 years and some key titles
include Moby Dick, Seaside Hotel, the Berenstain Bears, Jacques Cousteau's
Ocean Tales and Mona the Vampire.
- The Company has signed a number of additional new contracts for its
lead property entitled 'Legend of the Dragon', including a master toy deal
for worldwide distribution, worth more than EUR2.5 million. The property
has
exceeded management's expectations for fiscal 2004 and is well positioned
for
the full launch in fiscal 2005.
Allen Bohbot, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BKN International
A.G.,
said:
"We are extremely pleased that our new products are being well
received
around the world and that decent revenues are being generated. Expansion
in
Asia is on track and we are encouraged by the quality of both our new
ventures and our partners as we deliver on BKN's strategy to expand the
customer base for our programs throughout the world.
"Our view is that fiscal 2005, with the introduction of the Legend of
the
Dragon TV and Licensing program complete with toys, coupled with the launch
of the Kong-King of Atlantis direct-to-DVD and Ali Baba and the Forty
Thieves, has the potential to be very strong."
BKN has continued to grow successfully since its move to AIM in London in
December 2003 and has moved in to the top quartile of 890 companies on AIM
in
terms of market capitalisation. The Company will report its audited
financial
results for fiscal 2004 on 23 November 2004.
