BKN International AG: Contracts with Warner Home Video and Egyptian Media
City
BKN International AG ("BKN" or "the Company"), a
global animation company
engaged in the distribution and marketing of animated children's television
programmes and related consumer products, announces a worldwide (excluding
the
USA) DVD distribution agreement with Warner Home Video for BKN's new
direct-
to-DVD animated film 'Kong - King of Atlantis'. BKN also announces a
production and distribution deal with Egyptian Media City for its animation
picture 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves- the Lost Scimitar of Arabia'.
The release of 'Kong - King of Atlantis', featuring an all-original music
score, will be launched in the autumn of 2005 to coincide with the upcoming
epic remake of the Hollywood fantasy classic, 'King Kong', from Universal
Studios and 'Lord of the Rings' director Peter Jackson. BKN owns worldwide
copyright for the only animated version of King Kong.
Nicola Andrews, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Europe, Middle
East
and Africa of BKN, added: "This distribution agreement represents a
strong
partnership since Warner Home Video is a leader in DVD sell-through. Our
wholly-owned animated version has never been seen before and we are
delighted
to partner with Warner Home Video to unveil 'Kong - King of Atlantis'. It
is
estimated that 100 million homes worldwide have DVD players, which means
children the world over will be able to enjoy the animated King Kong."
Separately, BKN announces a co-production deal with Egyptian Media
Production
City- SAE (EMPC), the largest entertainment entity in the Arab region, to
produce the animated film entitled 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves - The
Lost
Scimitar of Arabia'. EMPC will co-produce this animated film with BKN and
distribute in the Middle East.
Lasting 72 minutes, 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves - The Lost Scimitar of
Arabia' is an original story and score and BKN has chosen a partner in a
country where the Arabian classic is set. This animated direct-to-DVD film
will star Oscar winner Omar Sharif who will provide voice services as well
as
English film newcomer and upcoming star of several pictures, Matthew Goode.
Nabil Osman, CEO for international cooperation for EMPC, adds: "This
is a
wonderful opportunity to work with one of the leading animation companies
in
the West. Ali Baba should be well received by the market and the children
in
the Arab world."
Allen Bohbot, Chief Executive Officer of BKN, said: "We are
delighted to be
working with top partners throughout the world. Warner Bros.
Entertainment is
a world leader in video distribution and EMPC is firmly established as the
