BKN expands its London operation
BKN International A.G. ("BKN" or "the Company"), a
global animation company
engaged in the distribution and marketing of animated children's television
programmes and related consumer products, announces that it is to expand
its
London operation with the hiring of one of the best animation teams in the
industry headed up by David Freedman. David and his team join BKN from
Carlton
Television Plc, where as Executive Producer, he was in charge of
development of
a new Thunderbirds series. As Supervising Producer at BKN, David will
pioneer
the creation of the new production series, Legend of the Dragon, due for
release
in Autumn 2004.
Richard Ungar, recently named Executive Producer of Production from The
Marvel
Character Group where he was President, said: "We are committed to
attracting
top talent based in London to ensure that our new properties deliver the
most
quality for our broadcasters. David will lead a superb creative team.
This
marks an extremely exciting stage in BKN's United Kingdom
development."
David Freedman said of his appointment: "BKN creates huge shows that
are proven
commercial successes. It is a company that is big enough to have power and
presence and small enough to act in an entrepreneurial and bold way. It is
great
to lead such a groundbreaking production as Legend of the Dragon with
such a
talented team in London."
David Freedman is an extremely experienced producer and show runner of
animation. He has risen from writer through to show runner and has worked
for
most of the major broadcasters in the industry including the BBC, ITV,
Channel
4, Disney, Fox, Cartoon Network Europe and many others.
David began his career as a cartoonist, and entered the animation industry
as a
writer, quickly moving on to script editing and development. Due to his art
background he began to oversee design and direction as well. David was co-
creator and co-executive producer of the multi-award winning, "Mr
Hell Show"
which starred the late Bob Monkhouse as the smarmy host, "Mr
Hell" himself.
This production still runs on Showtime in the United States.
