Buttenwiesen-Pfaffenhofen, 11 May 2012 - SURTECO SE, leading manufacturer
of surface materials based on plastics and technical papers for the
international construction and furniture industries, generated sales of EUR
107.3 million in the first quarter of 2012 and was therefore 1 % below the
volume for the equivalent year-earlier period. Sales in the domestic market
rose by 1 %, whereas foreign sales eased by 1 %. The share of foreign sales
in total sales remained constant at 66 %.

The Strategic Business Unit Plastics closed the first three months of the
business year with sales amounting to EUR 62.9 million (+4 %). The paper
segment achieved sales of EUR 44.3 million (-6 %).

In the first quarter of 2012, the operating result (EBITDA) of the SURTECO
Group amounted to EUR 13.5 million (-26 %). Earnings before tax (EBT)
decreased by 35 % to EUR 5.7 million. The negative impact on earnings is
essentially due to the increase in the cost of materials. The cost of
materials ratio increased by 1.3 percentage points to 47.3 % by comparison
with the equivalent quarter in the previous year.

Consolidated net profit after the first three months of the business year
came to EUR 3.8 million (2011: EUR 5.6 million). Earnings per share
amounted to EUR 0.35 (2011: EUR 0.50) based on 11,075,522 no-par-value
shares.
