Hamburg, 14.12.2005 - Today representatives of Yanggu Hongxiang Investment 
Co., Ltd. (YHI), PRC, Shandong Fengxiang (Group) Co., Ltd. and Norddeutsche 
Affinerie AG (NA) have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI), in which they confirm 
their intention of jointly operating a copper smelter with integrated power 
plant and a rod plant in China. Capital expenditure for the erection of the 
smelter (including power plant) and the rod plant in Yanggu, Shandong 
Province, amounts to just under EUR 330 million.

The parties assume that the contract negotiations, which are at an early 
stage, will be brought to a successful conclusion shortly.
