Norddeutsche Affinerie AG gets green light from the European Commission for
Cumerio takeover

Hamburg, 23 January 2008 – Having conducted an in-depth investigation, the
European Commission has today cleared the merger between Norddeutsche
Affinerie AG (NA) and Cumerio S.A. (Cumerio) without imposing any
conditions on the parties. NA now has all the necessary merger control
approvals for it to acquire sole control over Cumerio.
