HELMA Eigenheimbau AG / Key word(s): Miscellaneous HELMA Eigenheimbau AG expands business area of its fast-growing subsidiary HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH Lehrte, January 23, 2013 – HELMA Eigenheimbau AG, the specialist for individual solid construction houses and sustainable energy concepts, is about to embark on a further significant expansion of its business with its subsidiary HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH. HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH boasts a track record of successful operation to date, especially as a provider of individual solid construction detached and semi-detached homes including plots of land in major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover and Munich, as well as in their respective commuter belts. The company’s product range also includes solid-construction terraced houses. This product range is aimed primarily at private individuals who intend to live in the properties which they buy. HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH has already grown its business volumes considerably over the 2009 to 2012 period, boosting its revenue more than fivefold. Having completed the purchase of various attractive plots of land, constant revenue growth is also anticipated over the coming years at HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH in the area of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses. An expansion of the business model described above will also now generate additional revenue potentials. This planned expansion includes the planning, construction and subsequent sale of multi-family homes to institutional investors. To this end, several pre-developed residential construction projects were acquired from bauwo Wohn AG, Hanover, as part of an asset deal. As part of this deal, HELMA was obligated neither to purchase plots of land nor to implement the respective projects. Neither of these activities will occur until the relevant projects have undergone final scrutiny. The projects are located in the cities of Berlin, Hanover and Potsdam. The parties have agreed to maintain confidentiality concerning the modalities of the purchase price. The Management Board of HELMA Eigenheimbau AG is assuming that the expansion of this business field will generate additional revenues of between EUR15 million and EUR30 million per year by the latest from the 2015 financial year. The management team of HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH has been expanded from two to four individuals in order to be optimally staffed for the significant growth that is being targeted. This management team will now be composed of HELMA Management Board members Karl-Heinz Maerzke and Gerrit Janssen, as well as Harald Beinlich und Björn Jeschina, who have been appointed additional managing directors of HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH with immediate effect. Mr. Beinlich (49) trained as a commercial executive in real estate management, and has already been with the HELMA Group for more than two decades. As an authorised company officer and project development director, he has played a significant role in shaping the successful development of HELMA Wohnungsbau GmbH over the past years, and will continue to deploy his extensive know-how in the future in his responsibility for focusing on expanding the current business area. Dipl.-Ing. Björn Jeschina (47) is an architect, and holds an MBA in the sustainability management area. His previous positions include being a Management Board member at bauwo Wohn AG, chairman of the management at Formart Hannover (part of HOCHTIEF Solutions AG), and technical director at the Gundlach Group, in each case carrying responsibility for expanding the property development business in the North German region. Based on his past successes, and the extensive expertise that he has acquired in the realisation of residential construction projects, Mr. Jeschina will focus on structuring the growth of the new business area.
